No. Two people are recommended for assembly of a storage base.

The ottoman bases are hinged at the head of the bed and lift from the foot end, with gas struts taking the weight so the base rises with light hand pressure and stays held open while you load or unload. The compartment underneath is 25cm deep in a 35cm-high base, the same on every size from Single to Super King, and the top of the base is finished in a non-slip fabric that keeps the mattress in place as it lifts. The struts hold the base open on their own — there is no locking catch — so lower it deliberately and make sure it is fully closed before anyone sits on the bed.

Yes. The storage floor is your choice, either open to the carpet or fitted with base boards.

Yes. An ottoman opens at the foot, so it doesn't need clearance at the sides, which is exactly where a divan's drawers need space.

We'd suggest keeping the contents to around 25kg, spread evenly across the base rather than piled at one end.
