Bed Assembly & Access Guide
Always use the instructions supplied with your exact product. This page provides general preparation and safety guidance rather than replacing model-specific diagrams.
Before delivery
- Measure doors, halls, turns, stairs, lifts and the final room.
- Clear a safe route and working area.
- Check that floors and walls can be protected from accidental contact.
- Arrange help: most beds require two adults to lift, align and assemble safely.
- Keep children and pets away from components, fixings and lift mechanisms.
Before assembly
1. Unpack carefully without cutting into fabric or concealed wiring.
2. Lay components on clean protective material and identify every fitting.
3. Compare the parts with the instruction list before starting.
4. Do not fully tighten bolts until the main frame is aligned, unless the instructions say otherwise.
5. Never force a component; recheck orientation and hole alignment.
Upholstered frame beds
Connect the side rails to the headboard and footboard using the supplied brackets or bolts. Fit centre rails, support legs and slats in the stated order. Ensure every support leg touches the floor before placing the mattress on the bed.
Divan and ottoman divan beds
Fit feet or glides to each base, align the bases, secure them with the supplied linking clips and attach the headboard bolts. Where lids are linked, use the supplied connector and place the correct mattress on the base before testing closure. Some gas-lift lids may not remain closed without mattress weight.
Metal-frame ottoman beds
Two adults should assemble the outer frame and lift platform. Fit the gas struts only in the orientation shown in the instructions. Keep hands clear of hinges and never force the mechanism without the mattress weight specified for the bed. Do not allow children to operate the lift.
TV beds
TV beds involve mechanical and electrical components. Follow the model-specific cable route, ventilation clearance, television size and weight limits. Do not trap cables between frame sections. Test the lift without bedding obstructing the mechanism. Electrical repairs must be carried out by a competent authorised person.
Paid assembly and failed self-assembly
Paid assembly covers the IMAANI item described in the order. It does not normally include dismantling an existing bed or disposing of packaging. If self-assembly has failed for reasons unrelated to a fault or missing part, a specialist revisit may be available for £99.99.
After assembly
- Check that every bolt and support is secure.
- Recheck fixings after the first few weeks and periodically thereafter.
- Do not move a fully assembled bed by dragging it.
- Keep the instructions and spare fittings for future maintenance.
