A bed frame padded and covered in fabric rather than left as bare wood or metal, headboard, side rails and footboard all upholstered as one piece. IMAANI HOME builds every frame to order in Yorkshire, so the fabric isn't a finish applied to a stock bed; the bed is made in the fabric you choose.
Three practical reasons. A padded headboard is comfortable to lean against, which matters if you read or watch television in bed. Upholstered frames don't creak the way metal joints tend to. And fabric gives you colour and texture control that wood doesn't, the same design reads completely differently in charcoal velvet than in cream bouclé, so the bed can be a quiet backdrop or the main feature of the room.
The full range across all seven fabric families, from pale creams and stones through mid-tone greys and mink to deep charcoals and jewel shades. In a small or north-facing bedroom, a lighter fabric bounces light and keeps the bed from dominating; in a large room, a deeper colour anchors the space, especially on a tall headboard. Order swatches and hold them against your wall colour before deciding.
They're perfectly practical, but the fabric choice matters more than it would in a spare room. Smooth-pile velvets shed hair and crumbs more easily and don't catch on claws, so they're the safer pick with a cat or dog. Looped fabrics like bouclé can snag. Mid-tones hide marks better than pale creams. Whichever you choose, vacuum regularly with a soft brush attachment and blot spills straight away rather than letting them set.
Any upholstery fabric will lighten over time in strong, direct sun, that's true of all textiles rather than anything specific to ours. If your bed sits in a window that gets hard afternoon light, a mid-tone or textured fabric will disguise gradual change better than a flat dark colour, and closing blinds during the brightest part of the day makes a real difference over the years.
All of them. A standard frame on wooden slats, or solid boards instead of slats. A gas-lift ottoman base for full-footprint storage under the mattress. Or a divan base with 2 or 4 pull-out drawers. The upholstery is the same either way, so you choose the base on how much storage you need and how much clearance your room allows, not on which fabric you want.
